Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a wife to the best guy in the world and Mom to three great kids. My daughter is 18 and I have two boys, 11 and 8. We live in Texas along with our dogs, cat, hamsters and fish. We love animals and the outdoors. We love to camp, fish, swim or just hike around.
I enjoy gardening, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking and cooking for my family.
What is your favorite Bible Verse?
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.
What is your favorite book?
The Bible
What is your favorite homemaking task? Why?
I love to vacuum. I like to see all the lines in the carpet after I'm finished. I used to have hardwood floors and I loved to wax the floors. I guess I have a thing for floors?
Share your testimony with us.
I was raised by my mom and grandparents. My dad wasn't around at all but I had a wonderful childhood. We lived close to my grandparents and my grandfather made up for my dads absence. I was brought up in a Baptist church. I don't remember not knowing about Jesus, I made a profession of faith at a very young age and was baptized by immersion at about seven or eight. I was very aware of what it meant, even at this young age and discussed it openly with my family. I was 16 when my mom passed away. I think because it was just me and her made her death all the more difficult. I went wild. I began rebelling and had several years of terrible decisions, I was taking drugs, drinking alcohol, giving my family misery and heartache. Somehow, I stayed with the same boy I was with prior to my moms death. I moved in with him at 18. At 19 I became pregnant. While I was pregnant I instinctively abstained from all drinking and drug taking. This opened my eyes to what I had done to my family and my life. I slowly began to get my life back together. It was a difficult process because I was so ashamed of what I had done, I prayed and prayed for forgiveness. Finally through much prayer and meditation did God finally get through to me that he had forgiven me the first time I asked and I had to forgive myself. Since then I've never looked back. My relationship with my family quickly healed after the birth of my daughter. I can't say my life has been without trials and pain. It has not. I have had some very hard painful events in the years since then but I have never had to walk through one day alone ever again.
Do you have any prayer requests?
I need prayers for strength and endurance to care for my family as well as my grandfather, who has Alzheimer's.
Prayers for my family, that we get through this difficult time.
My husband (of 19 years) and my three kids live in Fort Worth, Texas. I'm a nurse but with the three kids I don't work out of the home much. My daughter is 18 and will be starting college this year, yikes! My two boys are ten and eight. I love serving my family, reading, scrapbooking, gardening, making soaps is a new passion of mine and playing with herbs. I love growing them, drying them and using them.

This Little Light of Mine

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. In my devotional time this morning, this verse touched my heart. I hope that my actions, my attitude, my words are a glory to my God. I have the opportunity every day to touch the people around me. Am I doing it? Am I the positive influence I want to be? Am I taking advantage of ever… Continue

School Days

My kids have started school. We're in the middle of it now. Football practices, homework, chapels, magazine sales. I was just talking with a friend and mentioned to her that it is such a shame that in our country right now to have a God centered curriculum you have to pay for a private school, or homeschool. I want my kids to study science and study if from the perspective of creation, not evolution. I want reading to include Christian authors and books that involve God in all the subjects. Not… Continue

Estate Sales, memories for sale

This is a very sad day for me. My grandfather is getting weaker and weaker, he has stopped talking, most of the time and he doesn't want to eat. He still knows me and his daughter but few others. The Hospice nurses have said he won't be getting any better. It's only a matter of time. The cost of his care is enormous and we've depleted his savings paying for his care. We know he wont be needing the garage full of tools, tons and tons of fishing tackle, lots of antiques he's bought through the yea… Continue

The Trials of Sugar the Hamster

Today we are playing with the hamsters. We love our hamsters. Did I mention we had to spend $200 + on Sugar, the hamster, when Spartacus, our cat, took her outside to "play". Well, after much searching, as this all happened at night, of course we found Spartacus with Sugar. Spartacus was letting sugar run, just so far......then he wound grab her, pull her back and then let her run again. Just so far... then grab her again. We were able to stop this little game just in time. Sugar was alive. The… Continue

Hey Cammye, I was paired with Swanee for the potholder swap and I don't think she's a member anymore. So I get to keep my potholder which is interesting because its the first one I've ever made and I'm quite attached to it. Now I have a great excuse to use it when I cook dinner tonight. Funny huh??

Ha! Thanks for teh "biker babe" comment!! LOL Have you ever ridden on one? If not, let me tell you, when you do, you will LOVE it!!! I love it! There is nothing more relaxing to me than to be in the open like that, with the wind blowing, and being able to see the magnificent beauty our Heavenly Father has created on this earth!! It's amazing!!! :)

Thanks for sharing a bit of your testimony, too. We serve an amazing God, don't we???!!!!

Hi Cammye, Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner…I had to get the house back in order and that was a chore. I’m so glad to hear about your son’s football games. I joke that while I love to watch football my sons will have to play basketball because there is not as much pushing involved…problem is I might fall asleep at one of their games. My boys are in a Christian school too, they had their open house last Tuesday and it really helped me with all the apprehensions I had about the school and the teachers. Even though it’s a Christian School I’m still struggling with teaching them morals and making them leaders so when they see something that is wrong they can determine that its wrong for themselves and make the right decision. I guess with much prayer and guidance from the Bible I can get it under control. God Bless, and watch out for your husband having more fun than his son…lol.

I am leaving next sunday to go to the border with my husband and stay with his sister a few days. Its going to be cool we will be there for our 5th aniversery and its the same place we got married. September 11. Then i will be going to pheonix t visit with my grandparents for 2 days and then i fly to fayetteville on the 15th.
Its big. But we need the change. we cant make ends meet here. At first i was going to just go for 3 months , but to be able to get money in the bank so i cqan bring my husband i will have to stay and work hard to pull this off. Its going to be hard. m son is very attached to my mom and his father. And he can get difficult at times. but i am hoping with the other kids around (my friend homeschools her 2) and all the animals and being able to run out side he will get use to it. Where i live he doesnt get too much time out side. Its too hot and there are way to many dangerous animals here, and all the narcos that live in front of us.
