Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 19 years, and we have 5 children, who are, naturally, also wonderful. (Ok, usually wonderful!) Since we home school, my time is spent at home with them, giving me opportunities to do some writing in the margins of my life.
What is your favorite Bible Verse?
"The Lord turned to him and said, 'Go in the strength you have...Am I not sending you?"
Judges 6:14
What is your favorite book?
LoL--only one? Current favorites: Sisterchicks
What is your favorite homemaking task? Why?
Probably cleaning my bathroom or washing windows--it's some of my best thinking time!
Share your testimony with us.
I was saved when I was almost 5. Mom & I were on our way to VBS, where she was teaching and we had been talking about salvation--when I told her I wanted to pray and ask Jesus to forgive me and be my Savior, she pulled the car over to the side of the narrow Maine road and prayed with me.

When I was 12, my family moved to Ecuador, as missionaries, and I went to an MK school there until I graduated from high school. It was there that my faith became truly my own. I was living hours away from my parents and I learned that I could cling to Jesus. Through my high school years and my bout with Guillan Barre, my faith and my walk with Christ deepened. Even though I lived in Ecuador for only 6 years, those years shaped me into the person I've become--right down to seeing life differently than the average American.

Creeping Clutter

There are two very distinct parts of my house: the public area and the private area. The public rooms (the living room, kitchen and dining room) are kept neat and clean, but the private area—ay ay yi! Continue

Pick Me!

One of my favorite scenes in Shrek (the first one) is actually the menu. If you don't choose fast enough, Donkey will start bounding up and down, hollering “Pick me!” Ever since I first saw that, there have been times when my soul has cried out with him, “Pick me, Lord, pick me!” Continue

A Tiger Doth Make ~Fiction Friday

Matt hadn’t been eavesdropping; there was just no way he could help overhearing the ladies at a lunch table behind him. They were young, working mothers and they were talking about all the demands placed on them and how they felt about it. What he heard shocked him. Did Katie feel the same way even though she was a stay-at-home-mom? He jotted down some notes as the ladies behind him thoughtfully finished their conversation with things they wished their husbands would do for them. On his way hom… Continue

It's Today!

The past 40 days have been truly wonderful for me! (Busy but wonderful. LoL) When I started this giveaway I had NO idea if anyone would even show up, and to say that I've been blessed by it, is an understatement! I've gotten to meet new friends and reconnected with old ones. Thank you so much for helping me celebrate. God is so incredibly good! Today is the wrap-up of my blog giveaway—but first I want to link to those that have come in since November 2nd, when I did a Linky post. I don't want y… Continue

Vacuuming an Octopus

Our home is an equal opportunity household. Everyone gets to share in the chores and that means our three boys know how to do dishes, sweep, vacuum, and (vaguely) how to do laundry, and our girls know how to mow and (vaguely) help their father with repair jobs. When a child is big enough to run the vacuum, he gets added into the loop of divide and conquer—the household chores, that is. Now, with five children that gives us a lot of hands to get the work done, but that also means we have to clea… Continue

Hi Patty, sorry I deleted you from my friends. I didn't see that you responded, and I'm sad to say that I was in the mood to clean house...cut the baggage that didn't encourage my walk with Christ. Please forgive me and I hope we can still be friends if not...hopefully in time I will gain your trust again. Sincerely...

Hi Patty, I haven't seen you in a while. Is everything okay?

Patty, you know the funny thing is when God brings me thru challenges, I can pause at the end and wonder what all the fuss was about. It’s then that I realize just how great our God really is. No one else could have made me accomplish all the things that I did. Without coaxing my husband even helped… a miracle in its own right. Thanks for your prayer; I will keep you and your family in my morning prayers. God Bless.
