Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am the Founding Director of A Virtuous Woman. I am also a proud pastor's wife, a homeschooling mom of five great kids, step-mom to four grown kids, and Grandarlin' to 11 (so far) grandkids.

I am a writer at heart and have published several titles including The Homemaker's Journal: Keeping House, If It Were Not So..., ADVENTures in Prophecy, and From Chaos to Calm: 15 Weeks to a Happy Home. I have several projects in the works as well including a new fiction novel!

I live with my family in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Harlan, Kentucky. My husband and I have three churches (Mykal is a district pastor) and they are located here in Southeastern Kentucky - Harlan, Middlesboro, and Belcher.

I am so thankful to be able to serve alongside my husband in ministry. I am excited to be able to teach Children's Sabbath Schools, lead our churches women's ministry and Bible studies.

We are also in the process of starting two new Pathfinder and Adventurer Clubs in two different churches for the children and I have enjoyed teaching Little Lambs and Eager Beavers in the past.

I will be speaking at an upcoming evangelistic series here in Harlan, Kentucky. Dates to be announced. I have two upcoming cooking schools one in Harlan and one in Middlesboro, Kentucky which I will be teaching as well. Dates to be announced.

God has so richly blessed my life. I am ever so thankful!
What is your favorite Bible Verse?
This is a hard one to answer - there are sooo many verses that I frequently remind myself of depending on the situation, but I the verse I quote almost on a daily basis to get me through the day is:

"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Another favorite is: Psaml 37:4 "Delight thyself in the Lord and He will give thee the desires of thine heart."

Another: “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.” Psalm 107:28 - 30

And of course I adore Proverbs 31:10- 31!
What is your favorite book?
Hard Question! I'll have to think about it.
What is your favorite homemaking task? Why?
I love hanging laundry up on my line in the backyard. We have a beautiful yard and in the early summer the wild roses are blooming and the frangrance is amazing! But just the very act of hanging up the laundry is wonderfully domestic. It makes me feel like a homemaker.

I also love cooking but not washing dishes - ugh! I love to eat and come up with new recipes. So fun!

More Than a Mistake
Do you have any prayer requests?
#1 I would ask that you especially pray for my husband, Pastor Mykal Ringstaff, who has very little time of his own and it seems someone is always needing his attention.

#2 Please pray for this ministry, A Virtuous Woman! I appreciate each and every prayer that is lifted up to our Heavenly Father on my behalf - what greater gift is there?

Busy and Blessed

Ladies, I have been soooo busy the last two weeks. I have not even had time to turn on the computer in days. The first weekend in October, I took three ladies to the women's retreat at Indian Creek Camp. All I can say is WOW! It was by far the best retreat I have ever been to! (Of course I say that every year!) But, honestly, our speaker, Dilys Brooks, was so amazing - so profound. And she connected with everyone on some level. Amazing. Th… Continue

Being a Virtuous Woman

Being a virtuous woman is not about being perfect or being a gourmet cook or even being a super mom. It is about doing the best you can with what God has given you in a way that is pleasing to HIM. If you have not read the Scriptures of Proverbs 31 this week, I want you to do so today. Don't just read the verses. Stop with each one and think about what it means. Ask God to show you His will for your life. Ask Him to make it clear what you should be doing to better serve your family and communit… Continue

Melissa,
Hi...No, I am not having problems now...I was trying to download some pictures and it kept saying that I had to be a member...I am, SO, I logged out and was going to log back in, and it would not let me....I tried several times, and after about 4 times it let me, but still would not let me download any pictures,...So, instead of doing the bulk uploader, I did the simple one and it gave me no more problems....If that made any sense....
I appreciate it...I hope that you and your family have a Blessed and safe weekend!

I am having some problems...I am a member, but when I go to upload some pics on here, it says that I have to be a member to upload....So, I signed out, and tried to sign back in, and it would not let me at first because it said that there was not an account with my e-mail address, then after trying several times, it let me log back in....I have no idea what is going on...lol

Hi, Melissa! I am having a hard time sleeping lately...Well, I sleep for a couple of hours, and then wake up with the baby and cannot fall back to sleep right away....Regardless of what time I go to bed, I have been waking up at 5:30 every morning...I just wanted to tell you what an encouragement and blessing your Chaos To Calm study has been to me...At first, I would do it for a few days, and then slack off, but I have been following through steadily for the past few weeks, and I have been SO blessed,....Where I used to feel like I got nothing accomplished, now, I feel like I have done over and beyond....Thank you so much for putting the study on there!!! I am sure that many others have been affected by it as well....
May you and your family be blessed ALWAYS!!!
Much love and prayers,
Tamara

Hey Melissa, I just wanted to ask if it would be posible if a Bible study group could be created. Like a group where women could start a discusion on whatever verse they have read and feel compell to write about, question for understanding, share and so on. I would realy like that and I think it would be a motivation for many to read their Bibles...you know like me! Now that shouldn't be the only motivation but we should have a desire though when that lacks this could be a way to point us to the Word of Life.
Thank you ,
Laura
