I am most elated today! Earlier during the week I had been having discussions with people whose oppinions about my life led me to think that I was being "good" for nothing. I prayed about my feelings and I was led to google "A Virtuous Woman" and up popped this website. I needed to hear read something encouraging.
I wasn't going to join at first. I was just going to read a few words to get me straight and then go on about my business. I knew I could stop back by again if I needed to. BUT! God impressed me to join. I did so prayerfully. I didn't want to be a part of some extremist group, and I don't get the impression that this is. I feel that this site is for women who have kept their virtue and are an encouragement to one another. I definitely need to be on here.

I am a 32 year old teacher at a Christian school in Louisville, Kentucky. I am not perfect by any means. I fall like any other good Christian, but I know that my Redeemer lives and I know to return to Him. I love the Lord, first and foremost.

I am a virgin. Many people have ridiculed me for being so at such an old age, but I don't feel bad about it. I remember my mother saying that I have something that other girls can't have once they give it away. My body is precious to me. My virginity is my most prized possession. It's my biggest gift to my husband (if ever I get one, pray church! lol). But I am not planning on giving it away until I marry. God would have it that way. I want to please Him (and my future husband) in that way.

What I want to know is if any other ladies have waited, whether you're married or not. Please share your experience with me.

Hi, my name is Kathy and I live in Southern Ca. I am 37 years old and have been married for 18 years. I grew up in the same church group as my husband. I've had the biggest crush on him since I was 13 years old but my parents didn't let us date until I was 17 years old. My dad made us have a chaperon till the day we got married and I am so grateful for that. I truly believe that our marriage has been blessed because we had waited although we didn't wait too long we got married when I was 19 years old and he was 21.

Be patient and I know that God will give you all the desires of your heart.

Dear Kimberly,
Stick to your guns girl!! The only "counsel" you need be concerned about is that of our Lord, and you know where HE stands on the issue. Good for you. You should take pride in your selfless obedience.

I didn't meet Mr. Right until I was 34, and I too remained a virgin until we married (one year later). There were some very tempting situations over the years, but thankfully God gave me the strength to stay true to my convictions. It was well worth it. The amazing thing is that the MAN that God finally brought into my life (take heart sister, He does answer prayer!) was also "kept," and he was 37!!

Hang in there, girl! I SO wish that I had waited. My first time wasn't my choice, though. I was date raped at 17. I really wish that my parents had had the determination that some of yours had, and chaparoned my dates. I was a 'perfect girl' til then. I fell apart after that. I had a 'common law' marriage my first husband for 3 years before we legally married, and I stayed with him for another 5 years. Those were the worst 8 years of my life, except my blessing, DD who is now 13.

As rough as my life was, though, I still see it as a blessing. I am able to teach my sweet DD about the pain that I endured due to the lack of guidence and watchfulness from my parents to help me understand what marriage was (they don't really know, even to this day, they are secular). She remembers the abuse we went through, and still sees the controling, scary nature of her dad, though she doesn't have to deal with him often, Baruch Hashem (praise/bless G-D).

I admire ladies who have learned what it is to wait, who cherish their virginity so much that they will hang on to it for their husband. Bless you for that.

The Sacred Scriptures

Q: By what name did Jesus refer to the sacred writings of the Old Testament, the Bible of His day?

A: "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the of the corner?" Matthew 21:42

Q: What title is given the revelation of God to man?

A: "And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Note:
It is interesting to note that the word Bible does not occur in the Bible itself. It is derived from the Latin biblia, which came from the Greek biblos, meaning "book." The Greek word byblos, meaning papyrus, the name of the material upon which the ancient books were written. The Greeks called this writing material bublos because they obtained it from the Phoenician port of Byblos.
The Bible has 66 and was written by 35 or 40 men over a period of some fifteen hundred years. The books are cakked the "Word of God," or the "Scriptures." Scriptures means writings.

This weekend...

we went to our wonderful little church in Belcher, Kentucky. The children all played Christmas hymns on the Piano for our "Christmas Program." I was so proud of all of the children and as always it was so nice to see everyone.

After potluck, our family headed for Bristol, Virginia (about 93 miles from Belcher - we got one of those new GPS gadgets!) to our Uncle Tommy and Aunt Effie. Since we had the new GPS thing, my husband took us on a new route, which I always love doing. I just enjoy seeing new places!

I love living here in the Appalachian Mountains. One of things I so love about this area are the names - Like Happy, Kentucky and Oven Fork, Kentucky, and Bad Branch Falls, Kentucky. We passed Frying Pan Road along the way over on the Virginia side which was why I even brought this up.

I was blessed to see a Blue Heron on a log in the river. My sweet husband indulged me and turned the car around so I could get a photo. Unfortunately the Blue Heron always eludes me and was gone by the time we turned the car around.

I saw another one flying over the river along side the car a short time later. I grabbed my camera out of my lap and tried to get the window down to get a photo and was not fast enough. I have yet to get a photo despite having seen them several times. (I am trying to get photos of every bird I have seen in person.)

As I stared at the river as we drove looking for another Heron, my husband hit the breaks and says, "You missed the hundred dollar bill looking for the diamond!"

I had no clue what he was talking about as he turned the car around. A moment later he pulled into someone's driveway. Chickens! Pretty Hens. Isn't he sweet?

We visited with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Effie for a little while (such sweet, sweet people!) before heading over to the VA hospital to see Uncle Kenneth. He looks better than when I saw him on Friday at lunch time when we couldn't wake him up and had to call 911.

Oh, I can't wait to share more with you about Aunt Effie, but that is another post!

Before heading home we stopped at the new Earth's Fare in Johnson City, TN. I love this store. I am so glad they came to town! And I was so excited to find Mary Jane's Farm magazine gracing their shelves. Mykal, who spent the whole day sweetly indulging me, bought me my first copy! I had never seen it in person and can't wait to find a few quiet moments this week to sit down and read.

It was a nice day. We didn't get home until late, but the drive was worth it and the lovely people we were able to share the day with made it really special.
